Token Policies

The $100 minimum token buy-in's main purpose is to deter abuse. I've had it at $25 and $250. I don't like having it so high, but there's more abuse when it's lower.

I don't like sitting on funds that are never used. There's a number of tokens that are funded (maybe 1-2 a month on average) and never used. I'm planning on deleting these tokens, but I hope owners of such tokens will come forward and request a refund first.

If you're actively using your token and topping it off as you need to, the system is working well. But I don't like to see $1,000+ on an idle token that may or may not get used at some point. If you know you're not going to use it, you should just request a refund. Crypto prices go up and down all the time. I'd rather refund a fresh invoice and give back what you paid.

Taking money in obvious abuse cases doesn't seem like the biggest deal as it helps cover my time in dealing with reports, which is sometimes fast and is sometimes not fast at all. However, I don't want to profit off of mistakes, and with 90+ day old tokens that have been funded and never used, I'd like to donate those funds somewhere. I'm not exactly sure where yet. Maybe to a local charity or split between a few places. I'd consider also sending banned token's funds to a charity as well, though.

I know that Monero payments without even an email is attractive to people wanting to hack/scam others out of money. And I'm not saying that I think every possible target is completely unethical. But a lot of it is extremely low-brow, like scam websites selling tools to Boomers with a countdown clock (I wish I was joking!) And regardless, as I say on the front page, this isn't "bulletproof" hosting at an underground bunker in Greenland, guarded by mercenaries. I'd like to think that most of you are using SporeStack for good reasons. Hosting edgy blogs, maintaining privacy, and bypassing censorship. I don't want to profit from phishing campaigns or people trying to get Grandma's laptop on a botnet.

I'm not stupid. I've seen hostnames (which I've said all along are not encrypted) that say "phish" in them. And I have a pretty good eye for behavior that has no other explanation.

If you're going to do something bad, request a refund and find another host. Or if you're just not using SporeStack anymore, for whatever reason, please request a refund.

There's many, many happy customers. Please don't treat your token like a retirement account or deploy the next latest and greatest scam on SporeStack.
